Blvd. Kukulcan, Punta Cancun
Zona Hotelera, 77500
Cancún, Q.R., Mexico
We were travelling as part of a group of 13 to celebrate our parents 50th wedding anniversary, and we landed on this resort as a result of the new sister resort Sunscape Cancun not being completed in time for our arrival. We were offered a selection of alternate choices to move to and we selected Dreams Sands Cancun Resort and Spa. We are glad that we did! This turned out to be an excellent decision. After some research we saw that they were able to accommodate their large groups, this was a huge selling point for us!

Overall Resort:
Long story short….We LOVED IT, and look forward to return again and again! This resort is GREAT for couples and families. From the cleanliness of the resort as a whole, to the WHITEST sandy beach, and not to mention the FRIENDLIEST STAFF! They remembered our names and our drinks of choice the second day!

Grounds were kept clean with a plentiful of staff making sure the lobby is free of sand, walkways were clear of debris, sand and water. Making sure the walking areas were safe and no slipping hazards! A+ for ensuring guests safety. The resort is cozier than what we were used to, but it had everything we needed within close proximity and that ended up being a HUGE advantage for us as a big group!

The lobby was where we met as a group on most nights. Seating for both large and small groups, a bar and a small performance area where there was nightly entertainment of DJ’s, bands and live performers. This was a nice area to sit back, relax and have a drink after dinner to wind down with the nightly entertainment. We needed no time to get into VACAY mode! There is also a nightclub in this resort that closes at 1pm, the AC is strong (yay!) in this place and we often found ourselves wrapping the night up at that place.
Rooms:
The room we stayed in was the Preferred Club Ocean Front Corner Suite. It had a living room, and a separate area where the bedroom is. The room is covered in huge windows, and overlooks the whole resort. We woke up with the MOST beautiful view of the ocean everyday…the room was so nice, we ALMOST didn’t want to get out. If you get the chance to upgrade to this suite, DO IT! You will not regret it! There is also a mini tablet with all the services available from room service to cleaning the rooms, all within a touch of your finger. The service was speedy and very attentive.
With the group of 13, we had 5 separate rooms with different configurations to suit each family’s needs. As it was my parents anniversary, they were upgraded to the ocean view king room. Once again, the amount of attentiveness of the resort staff blew our minds! They took the time to decorate the whole room with beautiful photos and “Happy anniversary” signs. Our parents were deeply moved and the gesture brought them to (happy) tears.
The beds and bedding were great, they offered 2 different firmness of pillows which typically is available at much more expensive resorts. Fridges were stocked with pop, juice, water and bottles of beer which gets restocked daily. Sometime if you had the DND sign up your room may not get stocked but a call to the front desk and you’ll have them quickly restocked. There is also 24 room service that is included with a wide selection of food and snacks that starts at 11pm till morning. Breakfast room service starts at 6am with typical delivery times between 30-50 minutes depending of time of day.

Pools & Beaches:

The BEACH was another huge selling point for us. The water was clear, free of debris, and you can see tiny fish swimming around. We spent our last full day playing volleyball in the ocean…what a great day that was!
Restaurants: This resort has quite a bit of dining options. The World Café is the resorts buffet which offers a buffet with a different theme each night. Tonnes of fresh fruits, juices, cold cut, sliced cheese and salad at all meals. Perfect for those days when you’re not exactly sure what you want to eat, as it has plenty of options!
Barefoot Grill: This is the beach grill situation near the pool and beach where you can swing by and grab a quick bite. Menu’s change daily so keep an eye out for the menu board. Typically consists of a grilled item, fries, nachos, vegetable sticks.
Coco Café & Ice Cream Parlor: Great spot to hit up first thing in the morning to get your daily fix of caffeine. At 10:30 am the ice cream parlour opens where you can grab some ice cream or specialty crepes. A daily visit to this spot is a MUST!
Gaucho Grill: Specialty grill house with Argentinian inspired dishes. Selection of chicken, ribeye, veal chop, Beef tenderloin, fish and grilled Portbello mushroom as an vegetarian option.
El Patio: Mexican Cuisine had vast variety of options, tacos, sopes, soups, aguachile, tequila shrimp. Definitely a must try when you visit here.
Portofino: Italian Cuisine had a selections of various pastas, risotto to grilled meats. Selection for all types of pallets
Himitsu: I thought it was going to be your typical teppanyaki style Asian restaurant you see at resorts… I was pleasantly surprised how good this place was! Pan-Asian inspired dishes from Pad Thai, fried rice, sushi to satay skewers. There’s always a special of the day which ranged from fresh sashimi, arbui sushi to Peking duck.
Olio: Mediterranean Cuisine with seafood specialties for lunch and Mediterranean for dinner. We only made it here for lunch but the but the tapas were great and catch of the day was always a go to.
Waves and Sands : International Cuisine with special French inspired menu on Monday and Thursday.
La Cevicheria : The name says it all, if you’re a ceviche lover than this is the place for you. Fresh made to order with options of fish, shrimp, octopus served as is, on tostadas.
We also did a Romantic dinner on the beach on our visit…I never really understood why it was a thing until we ate there…all the warm and fuzzies, accompanied with AMAZING food, great service and let’s not forget….that sunset! Unfortunately by the time we got to the main course, the sun was set so the pictures did not turn out well.
Special thanks to:
Social media Manager Adrian, Assistant GM Brianda, Chief Concierge Jorge, General manager Leonardo, and everybody at World Café for throwing us an epic wedding anniversary party! We had our own room reserved for our huge party, and the room was decorated with “50th wedding anniversary” fixtures and a slideshow of our parents playing in the background. Thank you for making this a TRIP TO REMEMBER!
Hats off to the management team who went above and beyond in helping us make our parents 50th anniversary celebration unforgettable. Our parents were deeply touched and emotional!
